THE CHAPEL STORY

Several years ago, on a family kayaking day at Lake Carey, my parents mentioned a nearby little old Chapel in the woods that they could envision converting into a tiny house. I took a peek at the property and thought, "Wow, what a magical place! It would make a beautiful wedding venue!" Chippy White Table was only two years old at that time, and the thought of a venue space was in the distant future. My parents decided against the tiny home, as the chapel property wasn't for sale back then.

In 2020 Chippy was heading into our 4th wedding season, and the idea of a venue space to expand our business was nudging at me. Lake Carey's cute little white Chapel has always stuck in my mind. I rode up to look at the property again (the previous owners used it for storage) and fell in love with the Chapel and its location in the woods. I contacted someone I knew who owned the property over a decade ago, and she put me in contact with the current owners. I tried to sell them my idea of turning the space into a magical little venue if they were willing to sell to me! I knew it would be perfect!! But they had something else in mind (even after I served them my Chippy story and charm!) and had no intention of putting the Chapel on the market at the time.

A few more years go by, and Chippy White Table continues to grow. The idea of the Chippy Chapel was always at the forefront of our thoughts as we wondered what was next for our business. One night, while watching Netflix with my husband, Karyn Chick texted me a Zillow link and said, "Is this the chapel you love at Lake Carey?" And sure enough, it was! I would have called the realtor at 10 PM! But like a sane person, I waited until 8 AM the following day to call and inquire. My heart was racing the entire time. We met at the Chapel the next day. I KNEW even without heat, power, floors, plumbing, or electricity that this little Chapel in the woods was meant to be our Chippy Chapel event venue.

Without hesitation, we made the offer to purchase, and as fate would have it, it was accepted!

It's still hard to believe it's ours!

On August 3rd, 2023, the Chippy Chapel became official. We know we have a long but exciting road to bring it back to life. But we can't wait to see it all unfold and put in the hard work to transform it into the most magical little venue space for weddings, events, showers, retreats, gatherings, and more.
